Jessie James released her debut album in August 2009. The album was self-titled project. Jessie James had a moderately successful debut album. Wanted, a song of the album, reached the Top 40 singles chart. Decker thought of herself to be a country performer in the past was surprised that her album wasn't promoted and produced with a focus on a mainstream audience. Decker struggled to get more control over the music she released after the two prior singles weren't very well-received. Decker released her second album under two names: Sweet American Dreams or Daughter of a Gypsy. Mercury put it on hold after the first three singles failed to make it onto the country charts. Decker then was let be released from her contract.
